Historical
Photographs from the late 19th and early 20th
century are available at the gallery. Featured are early works by Malek Karsh,
Fred Armbrister, William Marsden,
George Noble, Byron Harmon, and Fred Spalding as well as others, who
explored the mountains with their cameras.
Like the paintings of many early artists, the works of these local
as well as itinerant photographers served to promote greater travel in the
Rocky Mountains.
Similarly, the photographs also express a fascination with the
spectacular landscape found between Banff, Yoho, and Jasper National
Parks.
